Teams and individuals nominated for the chance to receive up to $1,500 from Thermoskin’s Community Sports Fund. The general public were able to show their support by voting for their favourite nominations to receive funds to upgrade training facilities, equipment, club uniforms or other much needed assistance.
Since launching in 2013, Thermoskin Community Sports Fund has seen over 36,300 fan votes for more than 700 sporting teams across the nation to receive much needed funds. To date, Thermoskin has provided Pole Vaults to a Pole Vaulting squad, assisted a Frisbee team to represent Australia at the World U23 Championships in London and helped a Lawn Bowls team acquire new bowls.
With a total pool of $10,000 available plus a gift of Thermoskin’s Plantar FXT Calf Socks, 2016’s recipients were decided upon by a panel of 4 judges, which included Australian Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder in Swimming, Melanie Wright, Elite former Australian Netballer Sharelle McMahon, ex-Socceroo star Brett Emerton and Thermoskin’s CEO Matthew Symington.
Nominations were grouped into 3 categories, these included Under 50’s teams, Over 50’s teams and Individuals and recipients were selected by the judges based on a number of factors which included:
