Aeroforce is a highly competitive Sport Aerobics Club located in Kilkenny, SA. We cater to all levels of athletes from beginner to International level competitors. The club was founded in 2011 after Stacey identified a lack of training facilities and experienced Sport Aerobic coaches in SA. We compete in both the FISAF and Schoolaerobics streams of Sport Aerobics and have had significant success in both. Our club from grown from 3 athletes competing at National level in 2011 to 12 for the 2016 season. Sport Aerobics or aerobic gymnastics, is a competitive sport originating from traditional aerobics in which complex, high-intensity movement patterns and elements of varying difficulty are performed to music. Routines go for 2 minutes at a speed of approximately 158bpm and athletes are required to perform compulsory and obligatory moves from the categories of Jumps, Static Strength, Pushups and Flexibility as well as skills of their choice.
Value to the Community
Aeroforce is a not-for-profit organisation which offers a safe and accessible training environment for athletes of all ages and capabilities to improve their fitness, health, self confidence and build life long relationships. Aeroforce gives back to the community by supporting charities close to our club members such as Epilepsy SA and Cancer Council SA. We also perform at local events at no charge. There are no other Sport Aerobic clubs in our area so Aeroforce provides an avenue for kids, teenagers and even adults to be part of a sport that is largely unheard of but gives so much back to its participants and can be tailored to suit any ability.
Why the funds are needed
Aeroforce requires funding in order to purchase safety mats/crash mats for our athletes to practice their skills on. As we currently can't afford our own facility, we hire a church hall with a solid wooden floor which is a great space, but not ideal for developing new skills and as our athletes are advancing in their ability they now require mats to ensure their safety at training and ensure they remain competitive each season. We currently only have 1 thin mat which makes training challenging when we have up to 10 athletes at each of our sessions and only a small area to train in. This mat would be utilised in all of our training sessions and would ensure the safety of our athletes.
