We are amazing. A strong , proud crew of amazing people who train hard to form an amazing team to skate at this years state tournament. Started just two years ago and now we have over 40 dedicated members in all skating levels, from Fresh Meat right up to bouting skaters. We love all people of all genders, sexuality, races and religions. Everyone is welcome to join and play with ARDL! We skate in Albany and travel to surrounding areas to compete. We are a Good Sports League and an Act-Belong-Commit partner.
Value to the Community
We inspire women and men who have never participated in ANY sport before to get sweaty and play with us. We have many mothers who have not done anything for themselves since becoming a mum. We get the people of Albany excited and we get them moving! This has long lasting impacts of their physical health, mental health and sense of belonging and community. Albany Roller Derby is involved in many community events, we cook sausage sizzles at arts festivals, march in the Christmas Pageant, skate down the main street for women's rights and generally bring good vibes to this sleepy regional town.
Why the funds are needed
The funds are needed to pay for uniforms for our team to attend the State Tournament in September, we need uniforms that fit all shapes and sizes. Every woman on the team wants to look and feel their best. We need specific names and number on our team uniforms and we need to show our Albany pride when we roll out for the first time in 2016!
