Invited to represent Australia in Las Vegas, USA, and compete against other athletes of similar age and standard. 2 years ago, Bailey, just started year 7, ran his first Cross Country thru his high school. He won, beating a record held since 1966, a 48 year record. He then went on to Inter school, Regionals, & State level Cross Country. Following year, last year, again, Bailey, year 8, won Cross Country, beating his own time from previous year, by 2 minutes. He then again went on to Inter school, Regionals & State level Cross Country. He has hopes to do it all again, when his High School has their Cross Country later in the year.
Value to the Individual
Sport is everything to Bailey. He loves it. Bailey plays football, last year, he came 3rd in 'League Best & Fairest' & won his clubs 'Best & Fairest'. It was his 2nd year at the club. Baileys 'beep test' score is 16.3 (as of March 2016). When it comes to sport, Bailey is the Athlete, the Umpire, the Referee, the Judge, the Commentator & the Crowd/spectator at the same time. If he makes a mistake at any time, he makes himself realise what he's done and does so many push ups as a penalty. He sees it as a way of learning.
Why the funds are needed
The 2016 Cross Contry Athletic Tour cost is $5,975. Spending money, passport & Travel Insurance are not included.
