We are Corio Little Athletics Centre, we provide athletics program for children from under 6 - under 15. We compete in our summer track and field program from October - March, and run a cross country program from May - July. We also compete in region ans state events throughout the year. We have 250 members, drawn from the Northern suburbs of Geelong as well from the Bannockburn area. We will be commerating our Fifty year anniversary during the 2016-2017 season
Value to the Community
We provide young children and young adults with an oppurtunity to compete in athletics competition. We have the motto of Fun, Fitness and friends, and fully promote not only the sporting side of our competition but the social inaction between children and families from different areas. We have a focus on each individual child achieving their best, and improving their skills rather than solely focusing on winning. We draw a large number of our athletes from low socio-economic area and try to make the sport as affordable as possible for parents and carers.
Why the funds are needed
We would use the money to assist the six clubs that fall under our centre to purchase new uniforms for the upcoming seasons. There will be a requirement from Little Athletics Victoria that all shirts must have their logo printed on them. This will incur some costs for the clubs and as a centre we would like to assist with these costs.
