About Crusoe Crusaders

The Crusoe Crusaders are a junior volleyball team from Kangaroo Flat, Central Victoria. The team was created nine months ago entirely by a group of talented sport loving year 9's. Although the boys had excelled individually in several other sports such as football, tennis and martial arts, they had never played volleyball; they didn't realise what they were missing out on. Having recently won the local Bendigo schools volleyball carnival (where they were viewed as easybeats twelve months earlier), the Crusaders are now set to represent their region at the Loddon Mallee Regional Championships in May. The team also aspires to compete at the Victorian Volleyball State Schools Cup and Nation Schools Cup later in the year.

Value to the Community

The Crusoe Crusaders hail from a high school that has experienced very little sporting success in recent years. Driven by the desire to change this the Crusoe Crusaders were created by the students, to play for the students. They are a team that the school community as a whole strongly supports both in school and on game night. With every one of their successes they walk taller, and that is starting to spread amoungst the student body. The are proud to play for their school and their school is proud of them.

Why the funds are needed

The Crusoe Crusaders are comprised of a group of eight year 10 boys from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. For the last six months due to financial constraints the team has only had access to ill fitting soccer uniforms on loan from their school to play volleyball in. They are also under resourced at training, using second hand volleyballs acquired from other schools that are not competition standard. Any financial assistance would contribute directly to the purchase of new volleyball playing uniforms for the team, as well as eight new competition level volleyballs to train with. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
