About David Albert Thomas Parsons

I compete in NSW athletics events, including higher level State championships and NSW country Championships. I started when i was 4 years old competing at little athletics and i started athletics events at the age of 9. My local club is from Stockton NSW, and they are such a great club and community. I am a multi event athlete. I compete in several events which are High jump (1.80m), Javelin (45.30m), triple jump (12.17m), Long Jump (5.60m), Discus (37.72m), 100m sprint (12.12sec) and pole vault (2.80m). I am currently going to state for High jump, Javelin and triple jump. I am currently after regional top 15 in all of these events. I like athletics because everyone talks and its such a great community to be in.

Value to the Individual

Athletics means a lot to me because 4 years ago i broke my back and got told i could never play sport again by my neurosurgeon. Every competition i have won since that point in my life have boosted me and gave me faith. It has also taught me that if i put my mind to anything I can achieve it. I like to think i am a role model to other athletes and i would like to give faith back into people who have injured them selves and still want to play sport. This has gave me inspiration to teach people my age (16), older or younger to just set your mind to it and achieve.

Why the funds are needed

The funds that i would receive if i am given the grant would be put toward my Footwear for my chosen events, competition uniforms, training uniforms and supports for my back. Since i am a multi event athlete its hard to get equipment for each event that i do and this money would give me the opportunity to purchase supports for my injury and clothing and footwear for training and competitions.
