About Dysart Senior Rugby League Club Inc

Our football club has a proud history stretching over 40 years within the small community of Dysart, QLD. Unfortunately in 2014 the club were forced to pull out of the local competition due to limited playing numbers and no interested committee members. In 2015 a young committee, made up of Dysart locals got together to bring the club back to life. Not only did we enter a men's team into the competition, we also introduced the first ever Dysart Bulls Women's Team. We currently have around 35 players registered and another 20 club members that have joined us for our second season in 2016. This club has always been respected by the small community and it is our aim to ensure that we maintain the respect and support of the town and it's residents.

Value to the Community

In a small town like Dysart, it is important that there are clubs like ours to keep the community spirit and team atmosphere alive. We always aim to ensure that all of our events cater for the whole family for example, we have once again sorted jumping castles and face painting at all of our home games for the kids. We also give our senior school goers opportunities to assist in many duties, including waitressing, video taping, scoring and commentating to give them work experience and some great references to add to their resumes. We are committed to supporting all of our local businesses through our purchases of food and alcohol, prizes for raffles and function room hires. Our committee members have all grown up in this town and realise the importance a club like ours is for the community to thrive, especially in these current hard times.

Why the funds are needed

Both teams had a successful year in their return to the competition, but unfortunately due to the large costs involved in getting back onto our feet, the club did not have a very profitable year. Now that the club is back up and running smoothly, we have moved our attention to fundraising and grants so that we can make further and much needed improvements to our facilities. After completing many working bees to clean up our grounds, it was noted that our club house is definitely beginning to show its age - it is still the original building. What we thought were only small fixes have unfortunately turned into large and necessary repairs. After some recent storms, our roof has been severely damaged which has caused water to leak through into the ceiling. We are now looking at having to replace numerous ceiling beams/boards/etc. as well as making repairs to the electrical wires and lighting throughout the ceiling. We are lucky enough to have some very talented and experienced workers throughout our club, but the purchase of materials is going to be more expensive than what we have originally budgeted for. This club house is the heart of the club.
