About Eden Whalers Womens Team
2016 introduced a Womens AFL competition in our local league. We have 18 members and are from a town on the Far South Coast of NSW - Eden. We have players aged from 14 - 46 and all love the game of AFL. We train 2 nights a week and play on Saturdays. Being a new concept for our club we do not have the facilities to accomodate women. ie. Changerooms. We have sourced a fully enclosed portable marquee that we can take to each match to provide a private area where we can get changed and feel comfortable.
Value to the Community
We are encouraging women to play in a team sport in our community. We off a safe, fun, environment for all ages to compete in a challenging and rewarding sport.
Why the funds are needed
Our league has offered to subsidise the purchase of the marquee to use as our change rooms as all grounds in our league do not cater for women. The cost of the marquee is $850 for our club, the League will pay $1500. We also require certain size footballs to play and train with: 5 footballs @ $90 = $360.00. We are endeavouring to get matching uniform as well - as you can see from our team photo we have a bit of everything going on.
