I started in Little Athletics when I was 5 years old and have loved achieving my PB's, records and mainly my friends at the club. When I was 10 years old, I represented Tasmania at my first State competition in Brisbane, then at 11 years old, and 12 years old. I was very honoured to be Captain of Tasmania at 12 years. I have just been selected as Captain again of the U13 Tasmanian team to compete in Adelaide in April. Athletics is all about being your best, participating and having fun. I love all of that but as well love the competition. I have a brilliant coach that I have had since I was 10 and an energetic, passionate and dedicated training squad that I train with up to 4 times a week. Athletics is also a wonderful sport for fitness for my other sports that I play.
Value to the Individual
Athletics has been my life since I was 5. My Father is the President of the Little Athletics Club that I belong to and my Mother is the State Competitions Manager for the Club. I have met many friends through athletics, from younger athletes to older athletes in my training squad. It is fun as well as exciting, but can be frustrating sometimes when I may get injured or not at my best. This makes me want to be dedicated even more and challenge myself. I have just been rewarded with Captain of the U13 Tasmanian team which I am very proud of. I have also been selected to represent my city at the International Children's Games in Taiwan this year. This will be a fantastic experience for me and a wonderful opportunity at my first International Competition.
Why the funds are needed
I have applied for $1500.00 as the levy for representing Tasmania for the ALAC in Adelaide is $1600.00. The $1600.00 includes the following: Flights - Hobart to Adelaide Accommodation - 4 nights Food and Uniform allowance Coaches and Managers fee to take me there
