About Hannah Lonergan

Western Pleasure is a western style competition at horse shows that evaluates horses on manners and suitability of the horse for a relaxed but collected gait cadence and relatively slow speed of gait, along with calm and responsive disposition. The horse is to appear to be a "pleasure" to ride and very comfortable, while being very smooth. The horses conformation and temperament play a role in this event, and hence animals that are calm, quiet, have collected, soft gaits and the strong muscling required to sustain slow, controlled movement are the most competitive. Hannah started riding when she was 8years old, and has competed on a state, national and international level, travelling locally to interstate and overseas. She is travelling to Germany in August-September 2016. She has to raise $5000.00 in total to go.We live in Tamborine QLD.

Value to the Individual

Hannah's sport plays a huge part in her life. She is up most mornings and feeding, riding and making sure they are going to be ok for the day ahead. They ground her, relax her when she is stressed from her studies and also give her a new rewarding challenges. Because working with animals is not always easy. She is a well rounded young lady, with big dears and expectations in life. The sport has classes for leading horses as well as ridden classes, it is one of the only sports that you can have a wide age groups compete against each other. ( I saw 3 generations competing against each other). She also loves the extended family that she has acquired since showing western.

Why the funds are needed

Hannah need to fund raise $5000 to send her to Germany this year. this will cover flights and food for her trip. This is a once in a life time opportunity the industry is so much bigger over seas and she feels she would gain experience that so would bring back to Australia to improve her knowledge and also help others.
