The Kalgoorlie PCYC gymnastics has approx 35 competitive gymnasts int heir team ranging from levels 3-7 with boys and girls aged 7-18 years of age. They participate in regionals in August 2016 and then those who succeed at regionals go on to compete in states in September in Perth. The club has been around since the early 80's and has been doing competitive gymnastics ever since. Each year we send a team off to compete in regionals and states.
Value to the Community
Our gymnastics team participate in numerous local community events through out the year providing great entertainment to our community. As we are the only gymnastics club in Kalgoorlie-Boulder we rely on the ability to go away for competitions to demonstrate the skills of our gymnasts. All our gymnasts are highly regarded in the community and particularly the gymnastics community. Most of our senior gymnasts volunteer their time out side their own training to coach the junior gymnastics teams. They are positive roles models and go above and beyond helping the club out side of gymnastics.
Why the funds are needed
The funds that we are requesting will go towards purchasing a new safety mat for our gym hall. We currently do not have enough safety mats which prevents us from allowing our gymnasts to progress using certain equipment. This particular mat will go under our parallel bars to assist in our various levels progressing their bar work for the upcoming competitions. The bars cost $1050 for a 6.5m x 2m x 32mm carpeted mat with $50 for postage through Hart sport.
