About Kezia Metcalf

Pilates - Kezia has recently completed her Pilates Instructor course with the aim of bringing the method back to our town and hopefully offering classes to surrounding country towns. She will be offering the classes mostly in the town of Dowerin and will start this week (Apr 11th).

Value to the Individual

Pilates is a practise that focuses not only on strength and flexibility but mainly on using movements to gain correct alignment of the spine and therefore more effective use of the body (without tension/pain). Physiotherapy and Chiropractors are in high demand by many of our town residents due to sport, injuries and laborious work that most farmers and tradespeople endure on a daily basis. Kezia (as well as a lot of others in the community!) believes that regular Pilates will inevitably reduce the risk of injury and possibly improve overall mental and physical balance as a result for majority of the demographic in Dowerin.

Why the funds are needed

Kezia would like to start offering classes as soon as possible however she requires some equipment. Pilates mats and Props (which help to aid certain posture types into a neutral position in order to complete movements correctly) are required. As part of the Sport and Rec funding received, Kezia will offer the first 2 classes to interested community members for FREE to gain interest and begin the teaching in the best manner possible. Her intention is certainly not profit related so any funding assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Links

Kezia plans to start a Facebook page to expose the community to the class information and to also educate the community about the Pilates method. There are no other links or websites planned at this early stage.
