Kiama Netball Association have for the very first time nominated a team in the Netball NSW Metro League competition, there are 10 players registered from Kiama. This is the first year that the competition is called Metro League as it was previously called Netball NSW State League. The team is made up of four young Kiama representative players and some more experience players from Shoalhaven, Bankstown and St George Netball Associations. We are very excited for all of the girls to be able to experience this level of netball and it is a wonderful opportunity for players to gain knowledge and experience from other associations. The team will play at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park which will enhance the whole experience for them as these were the courts used for the Netball World Cup.
Value to the Community
This is a fantastic opportunity to promote netball in our community after the wonderful success of the Netball World Cup in 2015. The Kiama community have always been very supportive of netball however our players have had limited pathways however being provided the opportunity to play with more experienced players from other associations has given Kiama the boost that it needs. Kiama Netball Association is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year and this is one more endeavour for us to promote during the celebrations that we have planned for the year.
Why the funds are needed
Funding would help cover the fees that these girls must pay for themselves which add up to approximately $500 per player and includes - player entry to the competition (this does not include registration with their club/association) $100per player, uniform at $300per player, training facilities at $810 for the 10 week period and approximately $600 for officials for the 10 week period of the competition. The competition is held at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park so that does not take into consideration travel for these girls.
