About Kirra Surf Life Saving

The Kirra Surf Life Saving Club Inflatable Rescue Boat Team are the currently Australian Teams Rescue Champions and the QLD State Rescue Champions. The team in made up of a very small number of members and achieve these great results at last year champions was an extraordinary effort. IRB racing is a great tradition at the Kirra SLSC who are celebrating 100 years of service to the community this year.

Value to the Community

On the 7th of January, 2016 the Kirra Surf Lifesaving Club celebrated its centenary of Vigilance and Service to the local community. Kirra SLSC is the Second Oldest Surf Lifesaving Club in Queensland and it is this long history of outstanding service and competition that we would like to continue. The IRB Team are valuable members of the club, patrolling the beach each weekend whilst maintaining equipment and training.

Why the funds are needed

The funding from this grant will be used to purchase new lifejackets and helmets which are a national requirement for IRB's both in racing competition and during whilst on patrol.
