We are the La Trobe University Ultimate Frisbee team which was established in 2002! We have grown from under 25 members to over 150 members consisting of past and present La Trobe University students. We train at the sports fields at La Trobe University on Tuesday and Wednesday nights which have helped to improve our performance during tournaments and improve our athletic ability. Our Ultimate Frisbee team consists of a Men's, Women's and Mixed Ultimate team which often compete at various Ultimate Frisbee competitions throughout the year. Our team not only increases awareness about this niche sport among students, but also among the wider community through mediums such as the La Trobe Sports Fair during Orientation Week, and social media.
Value to the Community
Our team brings a sense of belonging to the local community, a place where people of all athletic abilities, lifestyles and level of skill can be a part of this team. We do not hold tryouts for our team - anybody in the community can sign up! Our club and this sport is all about a high level of respect and sportsmanship among team mates, our opponents in competitions and other Ultimate Frisbee Clubs within Australia.
Why the funds are needed
This money is needed to primarily fund new uniforms ($1200) which will be required to participate in tournaments, such as University Games and various one-day tournaments hosted by the Australian Flying Disc Association. Funding is also needed to upgade our training equipment agility ladders ($100) and importantly. provide discs for our training sessions! ($300)
