About Lockyer Valley Riding for Disabled

We attend the State Championship Yearly starting with 2 riders 3 years ago and now have a team of 10 in a period of 3 years. We reside in the Lockyer Valley and travel to Caboolture every year and compete against other QLD Riders some as far as Nth QLD. We have been able to send 1 team member to Melbourne for Nationals and will hopefully be sending some sown to Sydney this year to compete in a NSW against QLD Comp. We love watching them get excited for their first competition and receive their ribbons. Next year we hope to have 15 riders which is our max and in such a short period. Best feeling ever. We have 3 of our team members also attending the Special Olympics Squad meets to become part of that team.

Value to the Community

We have a photo and story put in the Local newspaper and have people recognise our riders and often support them with donations to help get them to the State Championships. We send some of our riders and volunteers to other events and receive recognition for our contribution to the community.

Why the funds are needed

This year we would like to supply or riders with shirt to show our team and a purchase a new mounting block to help get our riders onto their horses easier. The shirts cost about $50/ shirt and a mounting block is $300 if any money was left over we would like to take our team out to dinner on the last night as a Thank You for joining us on this great journey.
