About Lucy Sori Yun

I have started ice skating 6 years ago, when I was 8 and still doing it in Brisbane, QLD. I have competed at Nationals for 4 years in a row and have competed at two international competitions in 2015. I am competing for Junior level of competition this year. I need to get benchmark to compete international competitions again for the new season 2016-2017. There are few benchmark events within QLD but some are in different states which cost a lot for to travel with my coach since I have to pay all the expenses for myself and the coach as well. Crystal Challange 2016 which will be held in Melbourne is one of the benchmark events I want to go.

Value to the Individual

Ice skating is a part of my life now. I am training average 24 hours a week with or without coaches. It started like a joke with my 8th birthday present from my mum, but soon became serious about this sport. I started train hard, passed all the levels, improved my skating skills throughout each and every competitions, became QLD champion, enjoyed and proud of going overseas representing Australia at last. Now I set my goal to go Junior Gran Prix, World Championships and Four Continents representing Australia. I also want to be a coach to teach my skills and experience to young skaters to lead them to become serious skaters like me. I am lucky I have a life goad and I can work hard thanks to my family's support; my mum, my dad and my little brother.

Why the funds are needed

Although I am saving up my pocket money to go to Melbourn to compete at Crystal Challange, 5~7 August 2016, I still need $1000 to cover all the expenses. The funds will be spent on ; - Competition application fee: $175 - Return flights for myself from Brisbane to and from Melbourn : $300 - Accommodation for 3 nights for myself: $360 - Taxi from Melbourn airport to and from the hotel: $100 - Coach fee for 2 days: $600 - The amount I pay for the coach's flights and accommodation: $300
