Lyndhurst Football Netball Club has an under 18 girls team with 22 players in 2016 (founded 2015). A large proportion of these girls at the end of this year 'age out' meaning they will be over 18 and have no competition/team to play in. With the explosion in interest, and girls/ladies playing AFL football through 2015 its disappointing to have little funding to provide an ongoing pathway for these girls to continue their AFL aspirations. At Lyndhurst we want to change all that and provide a clear pathway for the girls in the team and our local area by starting our Inaugural Lyndhurst AFL Ladies Team in 2017. We have a number of our girls that play in State Representative sides and are simply awesome to watch them play the game. We want them to keep playing as they progress out of the junior ranks. Please help them achieve this.
Value to the Community
Our team will bring a closer sense of bond in our local community, provide a greater sense of worth to the ladies, that there are people out there that care about female sporting pursuits and are prepared to put in their time to back and support them in a non profit, community, sporting environment. Our club motto is 'Our Club-Our Community', we stand by this at every turn. We provide opportunities for all ages, both sexes and all abilities. The community spirit generated by our club is genuine and something to experience which in turn provides strength and bonding in our community.
Why the funds are needed
The money will provide the jumpers, socks and shorts needed to supply the ladies for game day and give us the opportunity to reduce the yearly club fee payment to attract as many ladies as possible to stay on and continue with the sport they love and to subsidize any other new women attracted to the sport and make it more affordable for them.
