Newport’s long and proud history of both on and off field achievements makes us one of the most successful sporting clubs in Australia. With a proud history of striving for sporting success, community involvement and social activities, NLLC provides the ideal place for girls and women to stay fit, maintain long and lasting friendships and develop the values the essence of sportsmanship, and the art of working within a team environment, essential for everyday life. NLLC will always value its steep history while ensuring we continue to develop, utilising the modern methods of an ever growing global game. Whether you are a past member, current player or new inductee you are always welcome to join family at Newport.
Value to the Community
The individual benefits of taking part in sport and physical activity are well known and well evidenced, and this is certainly true for women and girls. Throughout the life course fewer women and girls than men and boys take part in enough sport and exercise to keep them healthy. The cost of participating in sports, lack of childcare, lack of role models, body image issues and concerns about cultural appropriateness can all exacerbate women’s lower levels of participation. NLLC provides a nurturing environment perfect for ALL women to participate in sport regardless of their circumstances.
Why the funds are needed
NLLC often gets invited to events to enable promotion of our sport and of our club. These are predominantly local community events such as school fetes and festivals. At the moment the club doesn't have any promotional items to advertise our club. We also voluntarily run lacrosse sporting clinics through local primary schools. We would like to use this grant to purchase the following: Outdoor Retractable Banner Stand $374 2 Tear Drop Flags $324 2 Water Filled Bases $110 Postage $51 TOTAL $859 These items will not only be used for external promotion but will also be able to be used at our game days both at home and away.
