About North Adelaide Korfball Club

The North Adelaide Korfball Club was established in 2007 when it entered a single team into the C grade competition run by Korfball SA in the metro area of Adelaide. Now, in its tenth year, we have 3 teams (covering the A, B and C grade) and approximately 40 playing members. We are primarily a young club with most members under the age of 30 and quite a number currently under 23 years of age (high school and university students). Korfball is a mixed gender sport which means that we have an equal number of male and female members competing in an environment of gender equality. We are quite proud that some of our members have earned selection into National teams that have competed in World Championships overseas, which is at their own expense.

Value to the Community

Our members can be actively seen in the community during fund raising activities including delivery of phone books, sausage sizzles and collection of recycling materials. The members volunteer their time to work together to achieve positive results that are of benefit to the community.

Why the funds are needed

If successful, we would like to use these funds towards the purchase of new playing uniforms to replace the current uniforms that have been in use since 2009. Playing uniforms are approximately $40 each and to purchase 80 new uniforms (40 uniforms for both our home colour and our away colour) would cost $3200. These funds would make a significant contribution towards that expense. Being a club that competes in a low profile sport we have been unsuccessful in attracting sponsors and therefore rely upon our members to volunteer their time towards fundraising activities. Our fundraising proceeds allow us to meet our association costs whilst also retaining a reasonable rate of fees for our playing members, who are primarily students. As a proud promoter of gender equality we would welcome the opportunity to refresh our uniforms with thanks to the Thermoskin community sports fund.
