About North Queensland Rebels

The North Queensland Rebels is the north QLD representative team for the sport of Gridiron. This year is the inaugural year for the rebels with the local competition finishing its second successful season in 2015/16. The team consists of the best players from Cairns, Townsville and Mackay and will compete in a number of matches agains South East QLD teams.

Value to the Community

The team is a community based organisation which encourages family involvement. In 2015/16 the North QLD gridiron association introduced a senior womens in addition to the senior mens. This saw families embrace a relatively new sport which is gaining massive exposure at the moment. As a result of this we have seen a massive jump in junior enquiries and will be instituting a junior division in season 2016/17

Why the funds are needed

These funds would be used to purchase safety equipment for training and games. Would go towards supplying medical supplies for the match along with uniforms for the senior teams. If successful, this would allow us to redirect those allocated funds into a successful launch of a juniors division
