The Pambula Swim Club was borne in 1987 when a group of community parents came together to build an outdoor 25m pool with pure volunteer labour, donated materials, supplies and passion to help their children keep the love of swimming as living in an area surrounded by beach waters was important. The club today hosts to just over 100 members including life members who have been an active part of the club for many years and continue to do so. Pambula Swim Club has had some great achievements from swimming members who have been swimming since the age of six onwards and competing in a rural regional area and making the competitions from area, country, state and national titles. We host to the family and swimming members each week over the spring and summer months to compete in the pool to have fun and better their times! WE LOVE IT!
Value to the Community
The value that our team brings to the community is friendship, building teamwork, a sense of belonging and core family values of bringing the importance of having the best out of our children not only from competing, but from participation on a local level. Also branding our team name across places of where the swimmers compete brings the local community to be proud of having a well recognised and competitive swimming club close to their home. Its all about the sense of belonging and being part of the team.
Why the funds are needed
The Pambula Community Swim Club works very closely with the council run pool in Pambula and as the funds are not always available for their needs, we feel it is necessary to participate and come together with resources we can share. The swim club is in need of updating the 25m lane ropes in the pool as these have not been updated for many years. The existing lane ropes are very dirty and have become impossible to clean with some of the floats of the lane ropes being broken also. This would not only help our club for our swimming events but it will also help the pool operators with their learn to swim members, the local community who swim on a daily basis and coaches for squad training.
Pambula Swim Club has a facebook site and we are currently working on our website.
