We are the Perth Angels Football Club and we represent the Perth District in the West Australian Women’s Football League (WAWFL). We formed in 2011 and became aligned with the Perth Demons Football Club (WAFL) in 2015. As the newest club in the WAWFL we field two teams, a women’s reserve (ages 18+) and a youth girls (ages 13-17). Our main aim is to promote women’s football in the Perth district and to encourage more females to participate in AFL across all levels. At the Perth Angels we strive to create a professional, positive environment for our players, members and all community members that engage in our club.
Value to the Community
At the Perth Angels we are dedicated to developing our members to be leaders within the community. A number of Perth Angels are giving back to junior clubs within the district by coaching and running clinics. They are also involved in speaking at schools and other Clubs. The Perth Angels also run a Mentor programme which is structured to recognise youth girls with strong leadership skills. This program partners senor members of the club with youth girls in order to develop their skills within the community and club. We provide a safe, stable, supportive environment to provide fun, fitness and a sense of family.
Why the funds are needed
Having a high percentage of members coming from lower social economic areas the club already subsidises fees as much as possible. The Perth Angels would like to run a series of in house programs with speakers to cover areas of physical and mental health, leadership and volunteering. The Thermoskin grant would go directly to covering room hire, payments for speakers and refreshments. Along with the seminars we would like to reduce the cost of club polos to the players.
