About Queensland Indigenous u/16 netball team

12 girls have been chosen for this team after a hard selection back in January, the girls are from all over South Queensland with four of our girls being selected from here in Gladstone,

Value to the Community

This particular tour to Fiji is a first for QINIC (Qld indigenous netball indigenous community) this is an awesome opportunity not only to show the brilliant talent of these girls at Fiji but to also experience a different culture. QINIC has given our indigenous girls an opportunity to show netball skills that sometimes mainstream doesn't recognise, as for us the Gladstone community are so proud of our girls for making this team and I am sure the rest of the girls there community is as proud as well. If this is a success there will be more tours with more indigenous girls hearing about this great opportunity and will want to play netball.

Why the funds are needed

The reason we would love to receive this grant is that it would help with the second and third deposits that we need in May and July to help these girls with there flights and accommodation over in Fiji. We have paid the girls first deposit thru an Easter raffle and the remaining 2 deposits are $780 per girl so that is a total of $1560 that needs to be raised. QINIC has given us good news that the girls uniforms have been sponsored so that is one expense that we have been spared from. Some of our girls have never even left there community let alone travelling to a different country so this is basically a once in a lifetime opportunity for these girls as this might be the only time they get to experience this. I know myself that my daughter is looking forward to this.
