About Rebecca Tilley

I own Reach Gymnastics, a gymnastics club based at Emerald Secondary College with 87 kids enrolled. We run a Gymstar program for our kids two nights a week, which is a recreational program with optional competitions. We opened in Term 1, 2015. We are using secondhand equipment and would love to upgrade to some newer equipment and also expand our equipment selection so that the kids can get more out of the classes. Some of our kids are getting to a higher level and we do not have a sprung floor which makes it difficult to teach tumbling skills. We would love to purchase an air floor to assist them. We are the only club in the local area and we would love for the kids to be able to stay with us instead of being forced to travel to a more well established club.

Value to the Individual

Gymnastics is my life! I started as a gymnast 26 years ago, then began coaching 4 years ago. I have been training as an adult gymnast for 8 years and have competed at Masters competitions. I now own Reach Gymnastics which I run 2 nights a week, and also manage full time Knox Gymnastics. I love gymnastics as it offers kids the chance to learn so many life skills, from co-ordination and fitness to learning to listen to instructions and discipline. Personally, it is my career, my social life, my fitness and my downtime!

Why the funds are needed

We would purchase an air floor which would assist us in teaching tumbling skills to our more senior kids. This will increase our level of safety and ability to teach higher level skills. It will also provide lots of fun for the junior kids! An air floor is $2000 so the whole amount would be spent on this. We are the only club in the local area and we would love for the kids to be able to stay with us instead of being forced to travel to a more well established club, or for them to drop out of the sport altogether.
