Our swim club of 22 years, has just grown from 120 members last season to 189 this season. With a new committee we are looking to the future where we can branch out from competing at just one RSL meet a year to start competing at other swimming NSW events. We have a number of new and talented swimmers that have together with relay teams bought home 42 medals including 19 gold at the R.S.L State championships this year. We have no uniform and only one coach so we are looking towards training and encouraging all our swimmers to compete at other meets.
Value to the Community
Our motto is "with the community at heart" . The club started in a semi rural township with the intention of encouraging local kids to learn to swim. Over the years the club grew and we have encouraged young and older swimmers to compete at out weekly meets, where they compete against swimmers of their own ability no matter what their age or gender. We swim only 6 months of the year as our pool closes during winter. We are a very family orientated club that offers more variety of distances for all members of the family hoping to get all members involved and swimming. We are by far the cheapest option for a sport in the local area, helping encourage the families of all economic situations to be able to partake in a sport.
Why the funds are needed
We need funds to buy uniforms for our swimmers for when they go off to represent us at other meets. We also like to contribute to costs for representatives who travel. Every second year the RSL State titles are in country locations this is what will be coming up in 2016/17 season and we have some families who have 3 and 4 children swimming for the club, so assisting with the costs can be helpful. The third thing we need major funding for is for the new software that we now can run with the new computer. It will integrate with Swimming NSW and our swimmers will have recorded time that will allow them entry into meets with qualifying times.
