Our swimming club has approx. 220 members from 5 years through to adults 40+. It was founded in 1946 with training conducted at that time at the local beach. We are lucky enough now to train at our local Aquatic Centre in Warnbro, WA. Our club is growing so rapidly that we are now the largest member based swimming club registered with Swimming WA. Our main focus is giving kids a pathway to not only remain healthy & active but have a genuine achievable goal that they can be one of the top swimming competitors in not only WA, but Nationally. This is already well on the way to reality for many of our swimmers. We had 2 senior competitors recently compete at the Australian Olympic trials in Adelaide as well as National Gold medalists at the Australian Age Championships and many younger medalists at the recent WA State Championships.
Value to the Community
Friendship, participation and fun. These kids turn up to their training sessions each week with smiles and look forward to hanging out with their friends. The youngsters are putting in some hard work but because they feel as though it is a social gathering. It's hard work they look forward to and it's keeping them healthy. Swimmers are generally well behaved members of the community as they are too busy with the multiple training sessions to be anything else!
Why the funds are needed
$500 for training equipment to purchase items for dry land training (stretch cords, yoga mats, weight/medicine balls). These items compliment that pool work and our swimmers turn up at least 30 minutes prior to swim training to do exercises before they dive in. $500 office equipment. Our computer/printer/telephone is almost as old as the original club members! The $500 would make a great contribution to seeing out one of these old dinosaurs that is inoperable more often than not!
