Our team members come from hard working families in regional Victoria. Our club has 2x senior teams of 9 members each and we will be looking to field 2 junior teams of a minimum of 9 players. We have enjoyed success both on and off the field in the last couple of previous seasons, however our club has been dealt a massive blow by having arsonists burn our club rooms down. We have lost memorabilia, photos, uniforms and canteen equipment. But more than that we lost our main area to congregate as a community sporting group. We have lost our ability to fundraise via a canteen as at this stage our facility does not have any running water or power. We are working with council to restore these essential services as soon as possible. We are looking to have a fantastic rebuilding season
Value to the Community
Scots baseball club provides the wider eaglehawk community with a place to gather with their families and play competitive baseball. We find many of our players belong to whole families that join our club. We try to keep our fees as low as possible so baseball is affordable to families with multiple children and players. We will lend gloves from the kit to new players and returning players so the expenses to families are kept to a minimum. However we have not purchased any new equipment for the junior kits for at least 4 years.
Why the funds are needed
We would be looking to fund some new equipment, especially for our junior teams. Our current equipment is becoming dated. It would be fantastic to be able to purchase some brand new gloves for our junior teams. ( $560 for 16 new gloves) As well as some training aids, like new nets ($420 for 2 new training nets) and tees($90 for 3) so the teams can break off into smaller groups and get more intense training. Members of the club have expressed an interest in obtaining a speed gun to record the speed of their throwing and their bat speed ($250) We promote to the community that junior baseball is an affordable sport and keep our fees very low to ensure as many participants as possible. We would also like to be able to offer newer and better equipment to our families. 2016 will be a year of rebuilding for Scots baseball club and we would appreciate every bit of help we can get.
