Established in 2011, the Shellharbour City Suns AFC is a family friendly Australian Rules Football Club based in the Shellharbour region, on the South Coast of NSW. The club caters for players of all levels of ability and experience, from the seasoned footballer to the novice who is new to the game and everyone in-between, there is a position for everyone at the Suns. The club also welcomes volunteers and supporters from all corners of the community; be it die hard footy fans bred locally, or relocated from interstate, to fans completely new to the game of Aussie Rules and looking to get involved in a club that is actively involved in the local community, the Suns is the club for you. The Suns currently field two teams in the AFL South Coast Competition; First Grade and Reserve Grade. The club’s home ground is Jock Brown Oval Barrack Heights.
Value to the Community
The Shellharbour Suns provide a platform for men to get together and have fun, we attract footballers from all over the country and assist where we can with assisting them to move here by helping find residences and employment within our local community, our coaches and players assist with junior football helping to mentor them as individuals and footballers. We support our local club as they support us and we help to promote local businesses and buying local wherever we can.
Why the funds are needed
The Suns still have a lot of improvement required to our facilities and we need new uniforms as ours are getting torn and we are attracting more and more people and due to excessive council fees and association fees we really need to raise more money to ensure our players fees continue to reduce yearly as to lessen the strain on them. Therefore we are seeking $1500 to buy the following equipment which will in turn help us raise money: BBQ and Gas Bottle Portable Stove top Microwave Kettle/Urn Pie Warmer Hot Dog Maker Thank you
