The Tri State Games is an annual athletic carnival which is held between Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia for people with a disability. The St Arnaud All Stars will be representing McCallum Disability Services this year, taking 16 people we support and extra staff and volunteers. The St Arnaud All Stars were formed over ten years ago in St Arnaud regional Victoria although have not participated in many events until 2013/14. The St Arnaud All Stars consist of people we support through the McCallum - St Arnaud site. The team has regrouped over the past three years to participate in the All Abilities Cricket Carnival and the Tri State Games 2015. The team is supported by staff and volunteers to ensure they can attend various events.
Value to the Community
The Tri State Games is a fantastic opportunity to see the people we support join together with others from different regions to compete and enjoy themselves. To see the look on the faces of each participant is priceless. Whether they win a medal or not the comradery between all the people we support is an amazing experience. The St Arnaud All Stars participating in an event such as this, not only represents the services assisting them to achieve this goal but also represents the community inclusion we are all about. The various participants from our team are involved in many community events as individuals and as part of the McCallum family.
Why the funds are needed
As you can imagine this can be a costly event for the people we support as they pay for this themselves. Their costs include accommodation, travel, meals and staffing expenses.
