About Sturt Sabres Basketball U14 Boys 2016

We are the U14 Boys from Sturt Basketball Club. U14 is a busy year. In 2016 we have the regular summer and winter season plus 3 interstate and 2 local tournaments. The boys are energised and enthusiastic about this year - playing with great intensity and practising hard to improve their skills and teamwork. The parents are busy running BBQs, events and fundraisers in order to travel interstate. We’re a team of 11 players - with a practice squad of 19. The Sturt Basketball Club, from metropolitan Adelaide, has a long and successful history in SA since its inception in 1960. The club runs 57 teams in the Basketball SA metro district competition and also runs its own domestic competition for players new to the sport. There are more than 500 players as well as numerous coaches, managers, parents and other supporters within the Sturt community.

Value to the Community

The Sturt Sabres Basketball Club caters for basketball players of any age and ability. For beginners, 4-8 years old, Aussie Hoops is a great introduction to basketball. There’s a low-cost friendly junior domestic basketball competition for under 8s through to under 16s. Beginners, school teams and social teams are included in this competition. And for players who want to play at a higher level, Sturt offers the most professional and successful junior program (under 10s through to under 18s) in South Australia.

Why the funds are needed

We are looking to purchase tops and tracksuit pants for players and coaches. These clothing items are additional to the normal playing uniform, and are required for the interstate tournaments. Tops are approx $35 each. (12 tops * $35 = $420). Tracksuit pants are approx $25 each. (12 tracksuit pants * $25 = $300). We’d like to apply for $720.
