We are a team of 16 dynamic women aged between 25 - 48 years old, most of us are mothers and carers, and are so passionate about football and love being part of a team that has become like family now. We are part of East Bankstown Football Club, based in Greencare (Sydney) and the club is named after one of the founding fathers, Fred Milroy, grandfather of Kelly Milroy who is our captain and assistant coach. The current team is entering its second year, and has grown from strength to strength turning most of our first timers (from last year) into more confident and strategic players. More importantly the team has become like family and help each other out on and off the field.
Value to the Community
Our All Age Ladies Team, the 'older ladies' are gems in our club and broader community as they represent alot of important values such as community spirit, a driving passion, values of health and the importance of being active and involved in the community. Turning up to training and committing to games is a great testament that you are never to old, regardless of our responsibilities and work commitments, to play sport and to go out there and give it a go. Community members, children, children of the mothers that play are doing a great thing by being great role models, of which children can aspire to. Values of friendship and community spirit despite differences in religion, culture, sexual orientation and lifestyles. A common bond is formed and is built around the belief that we all belong to one community and football is a great way to demonstrate this.
Why the funds are needed
To bring our team more to life and create more of a cohesive team feel, we are seeking EFBC club jackets we can utilise on cooler nights at our training sessions and to wear to our games every week. It would be great to have our names embrodied on the jackets. The Jackets serve a practical purpose and keep us warmer on those cooler nights, but will also instill more pride in our team, proudly wearing our club jackets as a team. Jackets with embroided names would cost $72 each x 16 registered team members = $1152
