Sports Braces for Hockey

Hockey has always been popular in Australia, and is played internationally at the Summer Olympics.  This fast-paced game is loved the world over for its combination of strength, agility, accuracy and athleticism. Although hockey is a non-contact sport, many injuries can occur from contact with a stick, the ball or another player. It is very common for hockey players to experience hand, wrist, ankle and knee injuries while playing the game. Many injuries also come from being hunched over whilst playing, causing the tightening of hamstrings, which pulls lower back/hip and then explosive speed bursts combined with fast body rotations pull the muscles out of place causing injuries.

Thermoskin has a range of braces and supports perfect for hockey players, designed to make you feel strong, confident and unstoppable on the field.

Being a sponsor of Hockey Victoria and the KBH Brumbies, we know that braces and supports are the perfect way to assist you to feel better faster and prevent further injury.

“Partnering with Thermoskin means our players feel supported and confident every time they step on to the pitch.  When an injury on the Hockey pitch occurs, our players want to be right back out there as soon as possible. Thermoskin allows our players freedom of movement and helps to stabilise joints , so our whole team can play with confidence.”Patrick Rebakis, Hockey Victoria

Why choose Thermoskin for your Hockey Injury?

How to avoid hand and wrist injuries for Hockey Players?

If you are a hockey player, you have a high risk of injuring your hands and fingers. This part of your body is extremely vulnerable if it makes contact with the ball or an opponent’s stick.  Hand fractures especially in the fingers are common as well as jammed finger. Exercise and strengthening training is always the first place to start. We recommend trying our Sport Thumb Adjustable when suffering from an injured thumb or wrist injury

How to avoid ankle injuries for Hockey Players?

Mild injuries such as ankle sprains or more major injuries such as Achilles’ tendinitis, Shin Splints and Heel Spurls are common for hockey players. To decrease the likelihood of overworking your ankles we recommend you wear our Thermoskin Ankle Defence Support or try our compression socks to help prevent/ reduce injuries. Wearing an ankle brace/support will help to increase blood flow to the ankle/foot which aids in speeding up muscle recovery and pain management.

How to avoid knee injuries for Hockey Players?

Hockey players have a high risk of developing knee injuries such as ACL, muscle strains, quadriceps and hamstring injuries. Depending on the injury it is recommended to wear a Thermoskin Sport Knee Adjustable or a Thigh Hamstring Adjustable. This will not only provide protection but enhance your knees stability whilst playing. Adding compression to your knee will also increasing blood flow to this area helping to speed up your recovery.

How are hockey injuries treated?

Like with any injury it is good practice to give your self a break from sport until an assessment can be made by a health care professional, such as a physiotherapist or your local GP. For minor injuries, treatment usually includes RICE, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.

Why Thermoskin?

Australian Physiotherapy Association endorsed, Thermoskin braces and supports can help to minimise the risk of developing a hockey injury via providing medical grade compression, enhancing stability and moisture wicking technology.
